Mohammed Al-Sassi;
I personally am disappointed. I admit to you today that I cannot comprehend what is happening in my country, and as a moderate opposition in my country, what falls in the face of thought, opposition, criticism and opinion makes our theses related to democratic transition and gradual development mocked by the people. Official Morocco entered the American club to fight terrorism. Terrorism must be fought, and the problem is not in this principle, but in the mechanisms and methods that are used in this fight. We can fight terrorism without assassinating democracy, and fight the phenomena of violence, crime and so on without assassinating democracy.
Some want to convince us that the good way is the assassination of democracy, the suppression of dissenting voices, the restrictions on the pens, the blocking of the mouths and the narrowing of the available margins, to the point where there is a legitimate question about the extent to which a democratic “margin” remains, and the democratic margin is not democracy, of course..We are to day wondering about the fate of this The margin, yes, the war against terrorism has achieved results that can never be denied, but what we see today is that this success is according to which the transition to a second war in which journalists, pen-holders, writers and bloggers are treated as new terrorists. It suffices to ask the question: How are journalists punished with penalties equivalent to those issued against terrorists? And when I talk about a journalist, I am talking about him in the broad sense of the press, whether he is a website owner, newspaper, columnist or opinion, I wonder if someone can deny that we have more prominent journalists detained than we have at any moment in the history of Morocco, even in years Lead. Of course, if we consider that in the trial of 77 19, for example, in which dozens of Marxist youth and intellectuals were tried, all of them were followed up within the framework of the formation of a secret Marxist organization..these were operatives in organizations against the regime ... Today I am talking about journalists who write only, and only express, without ever being They are active in organizations and these organizations collectively mobilize against the state. Not in the entire history of Morocco had this number of detained journalists, let us remember the major press trials that some well-known names were subjected to. In the past, well-known journalists often did not complete their enforceable sentences. Despite the blackness and darkness of the previous stage, they were pardoned.
Now, despite the condemnation of the arrests of journalists, we notice, for example, for the director of one of the largest websites and preceded by the director of one of the largest paper newspapers, that they have completed their sentence. We have passed through three stages: from a stage in which difficulties were created for the press, which led to the suspension of a number of platforms, and we can link these difficulties to the critical positions of those companies, but there are special difficulties that were directed at a kind of annoying press, so in the first stage, the work of the press was obstructed. In the second stage, a number of journalists and writers who practice criticism have been forced to emigrate, and this migration did not choose it voluntarily, as there are those who were banned from writing in his country, for example the journalist Ali Lamrabet, and the number of exiled journalists increased. In 1994, King Hassan II issued his pardon to the detainees and the political exiles. Today we have turned to the phenomenon of exiled journalists .. What does it mean to have at this stage exiled journalists just as we had exiled politicians? What is the meaning that today we are threatening even these exiles to follow them in the countries in which they live. This is strange. The repressive machine has not only obstructed journalistic work, but rather is threatened while abroad.
The third stage was characterized by files that we are not familiar with, sexual and financial files around which many doubts are raised and more than one question mark is raised, and no one can separate the ongoing prosecutions from their political context, and we are facing very strange trials. The number of complaints is large, and when the trial begins, we become as if we are in front of a contract that breaks up, the first complainant, then the second, then the third. It is sufficient for one complainant to stand before the judge and deny what was mentioned in the minutes in order for the whole contract to be dissolved from the legal point of view, this is constructive, the trial is constructive, and it is sufficient that One of the pillars falls until it collapses..What made the complainant deny before the judge what she said before the judicial police, and the complainant escaped outside, and a complainant we brought by force? When all these facts take place in a trial, the least that can be said about it is that it is a strange trial..What does it mean to pursue a person with human trafficking? Today, we act in front of the text in a manner that is the least of what is said about it, that it expanded the interpretation in a manner detrimental to the legitimacy, and this expansion of interpretation effectively transforms the judge into a legislator.
In the case of the journalist Hamid Al-Mahdawi, who received a phone call accordingly, he turned to a follower on the accusation of non-reporting .. In this regard, we can only follow the person about failure to report when he is definitively sure of the seriousness of the criminal project, otherwise, in these cases, the court has the possibility Imprisonment of any Moroccan in prison, and then we search for any of the texts, the judge is not free to interpret and interpret.
In the case of Professor Maati Monjib, the whole world followed, not just all of Morocco, the series of harassment, defamation, court sessions and questioning until the current follow-up was reached .. Can a sane person remove this follow-up from this context, from which it appears that there was a pre-thought for the arrest This person, and there is a certain party that started talking about justifying the arrest and found it difficult, stopped, and then returned .. This context of prosecutions and prosecutions allows us to reach the conviction that there is a prior will to arrest Muti Munjib, and this shift allows us to assume the existence of a prior will to punish, persecute and suppress freedoms.
As a final note, the lawyer himself, while supporting the followers in these cases, has become subject to trials, and it has never been in the history of Morocco that lawyers have found themselves due to their association with certain followers, difficulties as it has become today, this means that there is a will not only to suppress journalists and opponents, but also to deny them the right In defense and those who support them, when a lawyer in the Hirak Al-Rif case is forced to leave Morocco, then other lawyers are subjected to a series of prosecutions in cases that were remembered and raised only when they recorded their protest in certain files and pleaded in them, this indicates that the repression of journalists, dissidents, opinion campaigners and pens has become restrictions on them. Even when they are imprisoned, they have the right to have their lawyer defend them. We know that in Morocco there were lawyers and some of them became ministers of justice. They were defending coup leaders who killed in cold blood and killed innocents and entered the palace with the intention of the coup. Is it not in this country, on the other hand, sane people? You are embarrassing us the moderates, we who, since the mid-seventies, have reviewed our ideas and proposals and dropped the thesis of overthrowing the political system as a condition for democratic scientificism .. By God, we and our moderate positions have become embarrassed by the abundance of these offensive issues to the country.
