The latest public opinion findings of the Arab Barometer reveal the deeper causes behind Tunisia's current crisis: discontent with the government's failure to tackle economic hardship, ineffective management of the COVID-19 pandemic, deteriorating social services, and corruption. Taken together, they help explain extremely low levels of trust in the government, which, although freely elected, has limited legitimacy, thus creating the conditions that led to this crisis.
