Said Amzazi meets with Ambassador and Head of the European Union Mission to Rabat

Said Amzazi, Minister of National Education, Professional Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a statement Thursday in Rabat that cooperation between Morocco and the European Union in the fields of research and innovation predicts promising prospects, especially after Morocco embarked on the partnership process related to the new European program “Europe's Horizon”. “.
During a working meeting with Claudia Fede, Ambassador and Head of the European Union Mission to Rabat, Mr. Amzazi added that “partner country” in the “Europe's Horizon” program will allow Moroccan research structures to increase their contribution and participation, which were able, within the framework of the “Horizon 2020” program. ″, To benefit from the financing of 69 projects, amounting to 6.88 million euros.
The Minister highlighted that this initiative enabled Morocco to occupy the second place in terms of the participation of the countries of the southern bank of the Mediterranean in the applications for projects of the said program.
For her part, Ms. Fedi expressed her satisfaction and confidence in the tangible progress of the negotiations aimed at obtaining Morocco as a "partner country" in the "Europe's horizon" program. She also referred, according to the same source, to the new European declaration of the Southern Neighborhood Policy, in which Morocco occupies a distinguished position, especially in the fields of higher education, scientific research and innovation. The ambassador linked this meeting, which aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of scientific research, with the "green partnership" between the European Union and Morocco, which will include several dimensions related to higher education and scientific research. This meeting, according to the ministry's statement, follows recent talks with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Policy, Oliver Farrelly, and the European Commissioner in charge of innovation, research, culture, education and youth, Maria Gabriel.
These talks concerned the development of an innovative plan for North-South cooperation in the field of scientific research, as well as the partnership process in the European program “Europe's Horizon”, with the design of the new European programming 2021-2027.
The ministry's communiqué on the subject indicated that cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union gained new momentum following the two parties' adoption, on 27 June 2019, of the “joint statement”, on the occasion of the fourteenth session of the Association Council, which established the European-Moroccan Partnership for Common Prosperity. This partnership, according to the author, is centered around four structured spaces, the most prominent of which is the “common knowledge space” that will allow for higher education and vocational training, as well as sustainable work, scientific research, innovation, technology transfer, and mobility of students and researchers.
